Warning: Acidic Erosion

Suboxone Film Linked to
Severe Tooth Decay.

Manufacturer Indivior failed to warn that the high acidity of Suboxone sublingual strips causes rapid enamel erosion, leading to cracked teeth, infections, and expensive dental surgeries.

The Case Against Indivior

  • Main Cause: High Acidity (Low pH)
  • Primary Injury: Tooth Loss & Fracture
  • Litigation Status: MDL 3092 Formed

*Only affects "Film" version, not tablets.

Why is Suboxone Film Dangerous?

Suboxone is a life-saving medication for opioid use disorder, but the sublingual film version (introduced in 2010) is highly acidic. With a pH level similar to vinegar or lemon juice, the film dissolves directly against teeth.

Prolonged contact causes rapid dental erosion, stripping away enamel and leaving teeth vulnerable to decay, infection, and fracture. Lawsuits allege that Indivior knew about this risk but waited until 2022 to add a dental warning label, years after the damage was done to thousands of patients.

Who Qualifies for a Lawsuit?

  • Prescription: Prescribed Suboxone brand name film strips (not generic/tablets) before 2022.
  • Duration: Used the medication for at least 6 months prior to dental injury.
  • Injury: Suffered severe decay requiring extractions, root canals, crowns, or implants.

Specific Dental Injuries

Total Tooth Loss

Teeth rotting to the gumline requiring dentures/implants.

Tooth Fracture

Teeth crumbling or breaking due to weakened enamel.

Oral Infection

Abscesses and gum disease caused by erosion.

Extensive Surgery

Requiring multiple root canals, bridges, or crowns.

Fact: The FDA issued a Safety Communication in Jan 2022 warning about dental problems with buprenorphine medicines dissolved in the mouth.

Estimated Settlement Tiers

Settlements aim to cover the cost of past and future dental work, which can be incredibly expensive, as well as pain and suffering.

Tier 3

$10,000 - $50,000

Moderate decay requiring fillings or a few crowns, with limited permanent loss.

Most Cases

Tier 2

$50,000 - $100,000

Extraction of several teeth, requiring bridges or partial dentures. Significant pain.

Tier 1

$100,000 - $150,000+

Catastrophic loss of most/all teeth requiring full extraction and implants/dentures in young patients.
