A major NIH study found that frequent use of hair relaxers can double the risk of uterine cancer. L'Oreal, Revlon, and other manufacturers are facing federal lawsuits.
*According to NIH "Sister Study" data.
For decades, chemical hair relaxers like Dark & Lovely, ORS Olive Oil, and Motions were marketed as safe. However, these products contain Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), such as phthalates and parabens, which interfere with the body's hormonal system.
In October 2022, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released the results of the "Sister Study," which tracked nearly 34,000 women for over a decade. The study concluded that women who used chemical straighteners frequently (more than 4 times a year) were twice as likely to develop Uterine Cancer.
The primary injury linked by the NIH study.
Hormonal disruption linked to tumors.
Type of uterine cancer starting in the lining.
In cases requiring surgical intervention (Myomectomy/Hysterectomy).
